My wife Regina and I visited Bergamot Station in Santa Monica, a former railroad station converted to art galleries. There were artist receptions in several galleries which offered wine and cheese to visitors (Saturday 5-7) We enjoyed Alex Weinstein's paintings (www.lesliesackscontemporary.com), the EarthWE (earthwe.com) exhibit, and the American Native Culture photography (Waysof the WorldExhibits.com). We enjoyed visiting over a dozen galleries and took pictures of the colorful sunset as we were leaving.

My wife and I went to the Venice Canals to park our car for free. Venice Beach parking is full on hot summer weekends. Being Labor Day Weekend and hot, it was the right choice for parking. We had a pleasant walk along the canals, admiring the flowers and stylish houses. Arriving at the Venice Beach boadwalk, we saw the usual: musicians performing for the walkers on the boardwalk, lots of Marijuana doctor clinics offering prescritions for "needy" patients, and lots of art. The art varied from scrawls on carboard to beautiful canvases.
Then we walked across the wide sandy beach to the water edge and waded in the shallow water with children running excitetly in the small waves. There were thousands of beachgoes all along our walk to the Santa Monica pier. It was a great hot day with a few wispy clouds from a distant monsoon.
