Biography
I was born in war-torn Russia and lived in Poland, Germany, Belgium and France with my war refugee parents. The UN found us a home in Montreal, Canada, where I learned English to add to the languages I learned in Europe: Russian, German, and French. I attended universities in Michigan, Mexico, Montreal, and Los Angeles (B.A., B.Ed, and M.A.)
After a 10 year teaching career in Montreal (at state colleges and McGill university), I moved to Los Angeles with my wife and two sons and continued teaching and studying.
My art activities started with doodling in my school books in high school; then darkroom photo-art, plaster painting, woodwork, plastic resin casting, video making, computer graphic art, digital photography (using Photoshop), and now to mixed media painting.
After retiring as an educator, I resumed my favorite hobbies, painting and traveling. My wife and I have been on several road trips across the continent and traveled overseas to Europe, Africa, South America, and Asia. I enjoy meeting interesting people while showing my art at art galleries and art fairs.
